We all love chocolate and the calorie content of chocolate is relatively high for the size of the food. The density of energy in chocolate is high mainly because it is loaded (and i mean really loaded) with refined sugar and fats. The calories in different types of chocolate is listed in the table below.
The added fats are usually in the form of hydrogenated vegetable oils, the vegetable oil is gently saturated to control the consistency of chocolate and to help keep it more solid at room temperature. The body treats these converted oils the same way as saturated fats in the body so they may be stored easily. The addition of the sugar is much greater than the fats and contributes largely to the high calorie content of chocolate, the extra sugar also doesn’t supply any nutrients at all. If you want to know the exact calories in chocolate, specifically the chocolate that you like, make sure to read the label and see exactly how much damage it does.
