Low Calorie Alcoholic Cocktail Drink Recipes

December 30, 2008

monnet_cognac_cocktailMy post on low calorie alcoholic drinks is by far the most popular post on this site so i thought i’d complement it with a post on some low calorie cocktail recipes. I hope you do enjoy some of these drinks, and I will be updating the list soon with even more low calorie alternatives along with the calorie counts of each individual cocktail.

The Blizzard

The blizzard is a great drink and the best part about it is that it’s frozen!

Here’s what you need:
* 1 oz Brandy
* 1 oz Irish Cream
* 1 oz Coffee Liqueur
* 1 oz Light Rum
* 2 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream
* 1 oz Light Cream

Blend all the ingredient in your blender until you get a nice smooth and creamy mix. Now comes my favorite part, lightly dust the top of the drink after you pour it into a glass with either cinnamon or nutmeg and serve!

Lava Flow
A smooth tasting frozen low calorie cocktail that contains a lot of fruitty flavour.

Ingredients:
* 1 oz. Rum
* 2 oz. strawberries
* 1 banana
* 2 oz. pineapple juice
* 2 oz. coconut cream

Add all of the above ingredients into a blender with ice. Put it on the setting that you so choose and enjoy.

Moscow Mule

Ingredients:
* 1 ½ oz vodka
* 5 oz diet ginger ale
* juice of 1 fresh lime
* handful ice cubes

Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker and mix well. Strain out ice, pouring into chilled glasses.

Caipirinha

Ingredients:
* 1 packet Splenda
* 1 Tbsp water
* 1 fresh lime
* 1 ½ oz white rum
* glass of ice cubes

Let lime sit to room temperature. Cut into quarters, and put in cocktail shaker, along with Splenda and water. Mash lime with the back of a wooden spoon and mix until dissolved into mush. Add rum and ice cubes, shake well. Pour into glass.

Mojito

Ingredients:
* 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
* 1 packet Splenda
* 4-5 fresh mint leaves
* 1 ½ oz light rum
* 2 oz club soda
* glass of ice cubes

Pour lime juice into glass. Add mint and Splenda, stir until dissolved. Add rum and ice cubes, followed by club soda. Garnish with a fresh spring of mint.

Bloody Mary

1 1/2 ounces (1 jigger) vodka
1/2 cup tomato juice
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Worcestershire sauce to taste
Tabasco to taste
1 celery stick for garnish
1 lemon wedge for garnish

Combine the vodka, the tomato juice, the lemon juice, the Worcestershire sauce, the Tabasco, 1 cup ice cubes, and salt and pepper to taste, shake the mixture well, and strain it into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Garnish the Bloody Mary with the celery stick and the lemon wedge.

Sangria

* 4 packets Splenda
* 4 Tbsp water
* fresh orange slices
* fresh lemon slices
* fresh lime slices
* fresh peach slices
* fresh grapes
* 1 bottle wine
* club soda

Dissolve Splenda into water. Add to pitcher, with fruit slices and grapes (white for red wine, red for white wine), and bottle of wine. Stir, then chill. Top pitcher with drizzle of club soda just before serving.

Allegheny Bank

Ingredients:
* 1 oz Bourbon
* 1 oz Dry Vermouth
* 1/2 oz Blackberry Brandy
* 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
* 1/2 cup ice

Using a boston shaker shake all the above ingredients together and then pour the contents into your favorite cocktail glass and enjoy! The blackberry brandy and lemon juice really give this drink a zing that you’ll love!

Hope you found that list useful, some of these are my favorite and it helps to know they aren’t going to be doing too much damage on a night out. If you do have any low calorie alcoholic drink recipes please let me know.

Do you think these foods could have the ‘negative calorie’ effect when juiced? I imagine the body doesn’t need to spend at much energy processing them if most of the fiber is removed.

(I don’t know why my previous comment is posted here, it was for the negative calories article)

I would recommend that ANYONE that is trying to lose weight should not consume alcohol. It taxes your system and it fights the progress you may be making in the gym and in the kitchen.

I’ve had a hard time finding low-cal drinks that I actually enjoy drinking. I feel like some of them have so much sugar in them that they can’t be low calorie. I’ve tried a couple drinks made with TyKu, the liqueur, and they are awesome. It has a light taste, but still has so much flavor you can even just mix it with soda and be good! Hard to believe your drinking a low calorie drink. Has anyone tried or heard of it??
